Biography

Since being one of the youngest students to be accepted at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, Mayte Levenbach (2001) has achieved a lot in her young life. Described by the media as “an extremely talented and charismatic artist, a star to be and one to watch out for”, she has become a diverse musician playing many different instruments in several music styles, ranging from classical violin to pop vocals. Apart from establishing herself as a classical violinist on Dutch stages, she’s growing her YouTube singing channel by producing and uploading covers and releasing her own pop music.

In the past season, she had regular appearances with her duo partner and husband, Conrad Nuyts on talk shows led by Guido Wevers. In these talk shows, they accompanied the interviews about various subjects with their mixture of pop, jazz and classical music. In the coming season, she’ll continue to do these shows in Sint-Truiden & Hasselt while also finishing her bachelor studies at the Conservatory of Maastricht.

Mayte has won multiple prizes in various competitions like the first prize in the Netherlands Violin Competition (Iordens category), the grand prize in the Maassluis Music competition and the regional and national finals in the Princess Christina Competition. By participating in these competitions, Mayte made connections with professional orchestra’s like the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra (Ecuador), The Marine Band of the Royal Dutch Navy, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Residentie Orchestra and several other Philharmonic Orchestras throughout the Netherlands. She was also part of the international youth orchestra, the “LGT Young Soloists”, with whom she performed throughout Europe, Asia and Africa. Apart from playing solo with those orchestras, she also appeared live on television shows like “Zapp Music Challenge” where she performed with world-famous DJ “Armin van Buuren”, “De Wereld Draait Door”, and “Podium Witteman” and in the Netherlands. She also appeared on the television show “La Boîte à Secrets” in France.

At the age of 5, Mayte started her violin lessons with Stieneke Voorhoeve-Poot, who quickly declared that Mayte would be better off with another teacher who could guide her more in-depth. Since then, Mayte has been under the guidance of Ilona Sie Dhian Ho, Theodora Geraets, Julia Dinerstein and Yuzuko Horigome. She’s currently in her fourth bachelor year at the conservatory of Maastricht, where she’s studying with Piotr Jasiurkowski. Mayte has also gotten vocal lessons from Dion Bossers and Marinka Stam for about a year and a half. In addition to the regular classes, Mayte has attended masterclasses and lessons with Isabelle van Keulen, Liza Ferschtman, Emmy Verhey, Frederieke Saeijs, Petru Munteanu, Moshe Hammer, Stephan Picard, Joshua Fisher, Liza Ferschtman and Michael Kugel.

Mayte is playing a violin built by Johannes Jacobs. A unique violin made from a violin mould, which was then adapted explicitly to Mayte’s sound likings. Her classical violin recordings are featured on CDs by “Aangenaam Klassiek” and the “LGT Young Soloists” (Russian Soul). Apart from those features, she has also released two full albums on CD filled with her own pop songs called My Thoughts (2019) and Soul Searching (2020).
